D&C 27: 15-18, Ephesians 6:11-17
You wouldn’t send your children off to school,
without clothes to wear or food for fuel.
Do you insure they are protected from the winter chill,
but fail to guard them from a world so cruel?
They need an antidote to counter the lethal dose of the world they get each day-
a constant barrage of evil images passes before their way.
The world conditions us to value trash more than treasure,
slowly, gradually, we come to accept things we once with distain did measure.
Can we give equal time to feast on God’s word,
to counter the views that once seemed so absurd?
The attainment of truth will help us stand steady and firm,
girding up our vital parts, helping us to grow and learn.
The breastplate of righteousness can deflect any weapon or fire,
no evil can penetrate the virtues that we have acquired.
Feet that are shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace,
will stay firmly on the path that leads to life eternal and true happiness.
The shield of faith will quench all the fiery arrows and darts,
all things are possible with conviction and belief that never departs.
The helmet of salvation protects us against the effects of sin,
the atonement of Christ provides grace to the penitent desires of all women and men.
The sword of the spirit of God, poured out upon those who seek,
reveals the word of God to inspire those who are contrite and meek.

15 Wherefore, lift up your hearts and rejoice, and gird up your loins, and take upon you my whole armor, that ye may be able to withstand the evil day, having done all, that ye may be able to stand. 16 Stand, therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, having on the breastplate of righteousness, and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, which I have sent mine angels to commit unto you; 17 Taking the shield of faith wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked; 18 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of my Spirit, which I will pour out upon you, and my word which I reveal unto you, and be agreed as touching all things whatsoever ye ask of me, and be faithful until I come, and ye shall be caught up, that where I am ye shall be also. Amen.
