When You Believe

Inspired by the song from the movie “The Prince of Egypt”

The man thought carefully how he could put down in words,

his feelings of gratitude for so many blessings received from the Lord.

Truly the Prince of Peace has redeemed his penitent soul.

He has sincere conviction that God has made him more complete and whole.

He was a sinner who had committed serious offense to others -

before he learned how to correctly treat his fellow sisters and brothers.

He felt so relieved to now be made free

of the chains that had bound him so thoroughly.

The shackles of past sins being dispelled by grace from above -

his burdens made lighter because of redeeming love.

This is his song of praise he wishes to express,

to all who will hear his heartfelt recovery from despair and distress :

“Many days and nights I prayed, with no proof heaven would hear,

but in my heart I held a hope that God was ever near.

In times of confusion I wondered if my petitions were in vain -

could I really receive guidance that would provide eternal gain?

Even though my faith was weak and my belief was frail,

I thought that marvelous things could still be possible.

Patience and effort proved essential in my search for answers,

for in time I felt the Savior’s love, His grace, and His power.

Uncertainty has since departed, surety has conquered my doubt,

my confidence is stronger - my soul longs to sing and shout.

There can be miracles when you believe -

where faith is present, amazing things can be achieved.

I will sing to the Lord for he has triumphed in glory.

He is the source of love and redemption - He who is majestic, exalted and holy”

Who knows what miracles you can receive

through the benevolence of God and His tender mercies?
