“Thou Art The Christ”

Updated: Dec 1, 2021

When He lived on earth, people inquired, “who is this”? (Matthew 21: 10)

Many wondered, others could not tell; most opinions were amiss.

“Who do the people say I am?, he asked his disciples of their thoughts. (Matthew 16: 13,16)

they said others believed he may be John the Baptist, Elias, Jeremias or one of the prophets.

“Whom say ye that I am”? he asked of those who knew him best.

Peter responded firmly “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God” –Peter was a personal witness and knew perhaps better than the rest.

Another time Jesus asked the Pharisees: “What think ye of Christ, whose son is he?” (Matthew 22: 42)

“The son of David” said those who clearly did not fully see.

Prophet, great teacher, master, son of David, Nazerene; only a few will know for sure,

only those who really listen to the spirit, whose hearts and minds are pure.

Savior, Redeemer, Lamb of God, Only Begotten of the Father, the Prince of Peace,

Jesus of Galilee and the mighty God is who we know him to be.

He is known by names and titles of respect, admiration or love,

Christ gave the way to know who he really is: revelation from God, in heaven above. (Matthew 16: 17)

Flesh and blood may not be enough to convince or reveal,

but the Holy Ghost can give a witness of the spirit to those whose search is real.

The two disciples on the road to Emmaus did not know Him at the first,

When they finally realized one said: “Did not our hearts burn within us” ? (Luke 24: 32)

“Come and see”, was the invitation given by those who found the Messiah, (John 1: 39-41)

the testimony of others who know can also guide us.

When I see Him, will I know Him without a doubt?

Will I know that He is the Christ, my Savior and Redeemer, or the work he is about?

Revelation is the answer, the only way to really tell,

for those listening to the Spirit, it will not be hard to know Him well.

Christ wants us to know Him, but more importantly, he wants us to be like Him.

“What manner of men ought ye to be’? he asked of the Nephites in times gone past, (3 Nephi 27: 27) He gave them this reply: “Verily I say unto you, even as I am”

Isaiah 9: 6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
