The Wings of a Prayer

Upon the wings of a prayer,

I approach the throne of God and always find Him there.

My thoughts and feelings can be conveyed in no better way,

than this form of communion with The Almighty each and every day.

The desires of my heart can reach heaven with a sincere invocation -

lifted high on wings that convey my deepest devotion.

Like a homing pigeon that knows the path home to take,

a prayer can deliver our messages beyond the heavenly gate.

He knows my thoughts and sees my actions

and wants to collaborate on mutual goals and ambitions.

God is not like a genie granting every wish,

but he wants to bless us with every good thing that is best for us.

If I do more than talk and really listen,

I will be able to hear Him give me vital directions.

Perhaps we have two ears and one mouth for a reason –

that we should listen twice as much as we speak on every occasion.

What He wants to tell us and what He wants us to know,

is how to help us with all of the things we need – a virtual show and tell.

There is no shortage of spiritual means great or small

that can all be enlisted to guide us when we make the attempt to call.

Our prayers may only reach the ceiling or to heaven fly,

depending on our focus and the amount of energy we apply.

Can we take more than a minute to address our Father in Heaven -

to give thanks and acknowledge that he makes possible our living?

Are we in too much in a hurry from morning to night

to let the wings of a prayer soar upwards out of sight ?

Like most things, we get out of life what we put into it.

Prayer is like that and can be improved with greater effort.

Our prayers should be expressions of our deepest appreciation –

a time of thanksgiving for a multitude of His blessings.

Have you ever basked in His love while on your knees in His warm embrace -

with your heart overflowing with gratitude and tears streaming down your face?

More than anything, he wants us to feel His deep love and tender care.

There are few better times than when we kneel in earnest prayer.
