The Touch of the Master’s Hand

As the man inspected his work, he could see his face in the shine.

Was the finish good enough for this brand new violin?

This was the seventh coat of varnish and as many attempts to sand it smooth,

nothing but perfection would be good enough for him to pursue.

When God polishes a person, He takes even greater care,

because the worth of a soul is certainly more precious than any earthly treasure.

This polish can take the shape or form of many things,

both blessings and trials can add another layer to our character and make us better human beings.

Improving us and making us better is what God is all about,

if we are willing we can be molded into a person that can make the angels want to shout.

It is written that God chastens those whom He loves - (Hebrews 12:6) (D&C 95:1)

setting us straight as a loving parent is just what He does.

Experiences that are for our good at first may look like a trial,

it is not until later that we can look back, see more clearly and give an understanding

smile.

One thing is for certain - of this we should all understand,

there is a power above our own that holds things together – its all in the Masters hand.

God knows what is best for us, knows what we need to grow,

with every coat of heavenly polish, he lovingly improves an eternal soul.

When we turn our lives over to God we will soon discover,

that He can make more of us than we can – He can make us immensely better.

“He can deepen our joys, lift our spirits, expand our vision, quicken our minds,

multiply our blessings, comfort our souls and raise up friends”. (Ezra Taft Benson)

Certainly, God can make more of us than we ever thought possible,

the touch of the Masters hand is what is needed to help us see our true potential.

If we are ever tempted to ask in our extremities, “why is this happening to me or another”,

It may be that another coat of polish is needed to make perfect every sister and brother.

The touch of the Master’s hand reaches every spot and corner,

He helps us understand our purpose and value and how He seeks our eternal welfare.

The change can take place gradually, imperceptibly with each layer,

but over time a person is improved, making their character shine with heavenly luster.

God is in the details of our lives; He is the one in charge,

He is ever-present, our purpose in life He will expand and enlarge.
