(Psalm 23)
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want or need;
He provides me with all things, if only I follow his lead.
He maketh me to lie down in pastures lush and green;
He turns the desert places into a paradise, calm and serene.
He leadeth me beside the waters clear,
the cool clean liquid refreshes and washes away my tears.
He restores my soul and leads me in the path of righteousness;
He provides relief from the bondage of sin with his graciousness.
I will not fear evil or the influence of a world gone astray;
I am comforted to know that God is with me and provides for my protection and safety.
He anoints my head with oil and blessings he freely gives,
my cup runneth over with His tender mercies; I am a witness that He lives.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
if I put my trust in him, he will help me overcome trials, trouble and strife.
I wish to dwell in the house of the Lord forever and enjoy his presence;
there is no other option for happiness that makes any sense.
