Recover

When life hits you hard and takes your breath away.

When all looks lost and hope is dashed on the rocks of despair and dismay.

When things don’t turn out the way you thought.

When you are left with the tattered remnants of dreams you have sought.

When your world stops spinning and things become more clear.

When all the tears have fallen and signs of new life appear.

Stop. Let God take over.

Put your hand in His and let Him help you recover.

He hasn’t abandoned you to some untimely fate.

He is there to make the winds cease and cause the storms to abate.

Now is the time to look God squarely in the face

and seek for answers and feel His comfort and grace.

Time gives perspective to each life changing moment

and helps us see more clearly that God’s plan is so complete and brilliant.

You can’t go back in time and make things right

but you can decide how to make your future more promising and bright.

You may find yourself at a crossroad of faith

where turning from God would be a fatal mistake.

Taking the path that leads you closer to Him

is the only way that will bring you peace and increase your light from within.

He can calm the tempest that rages in your heart -

with the assurance that you will be okay and you can make a fresh start.

Helping us recover from challenges is what God does so well.

His immense love can make things right and provide the balm that will heal.

Keith B. McMullin, “God Loves and Helps All of His Children: October 2008

“As the Lord’s prophet, President Monson counsels: “At times there appears to be no light at the tunnel’s end—no dawn to break the night’s darkness. … We feel abandoned, heartbroken, alone. If you find yourself in such a situation, I plead with you to turn to our Heavenly Father in faith. He will lift you and guide you. He will not always take your afflictions from you, but He will comfort and lead you with love through whatever

storm you face.”

Dallin H. Oaks, “He Heals the Heavy Laden”, October 2006

“At times we may despair that our burdens are too great. When it seems that a tempest is raging in our lives, we may feel abandoned and cry out like the disciples in the storm, “Master, carest thou not that we perish?” (Mark 4:38). At such times we should remember His reply: “Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?” (v. 40). The healing power of the Lord Jesus Christ—whether it removes our burdens or strengthens us to endure and live with them like the Apostle Paul—is available for every affliction in mortality.”
