Out of the Best Books

The old man sat down to reflect on his present and past life

and considered the things that had made a difference for him and his wife.

There were many things that he had learned over the years

from a constant source of truth that he most treasured.

One book was his daily inspiration and guide -

he could always feel its spirit telling him that God is real and always on his side.

Today he decided to write down its essence and main points.

He compiled a host of messages that he thought were most important.

The list went on for several pages, with hundreds of thoughts.

Here are just a few that stood out among the rest :

God prepares the way to accomplish the things He has commanded us. (1 Nephi 3: 7)

We can receive personal revelation through our faith and diligence. (1 Nephi 15: 11)

God gives liberally to those who ask. (2 Nephi 4:35)

The atonement of Christ satisfies the demands of justice. (2 Nephi 9: 26)

Christ doeth nothing except for the benefit of the world. (2 Nephi 26: 24)

The words of Christ will tell us all things that we should do. (2 Nephi 32: 3)

Before we seek for riches, seek first the kingdom of God. (Jacob 2 :8)

Seek for riches only to help others and to do good. (Jacob 2: 19)

Believe in God and that He created all things. (Mosiah 4: 9)

Impart of your substance to your fellow human beings. (Mosiah 18: 27-29)

God can bear us up and make our burdens light. (Mosiah 24: 14-15)

The sting of death is swallowed up in Christ. (Mosiah 16: 8)

You will find many more divine teachings that will touch your mind and heart.

All you need to do is seek and you will find pearls of truth, right from the very start.

You can hear God talking to you and feel of his love.

You will see the heavens open and see blessings come from above.

This sacred record, so well preserved through the ages,

can direct your life for good as you study God’s words found on its pages.

This book is easily available for you to read and when you do you will want to shout.

It can be a valuable asset to help you discover what life is all about.

The book has been titled “The Book of Mormon” and rightly so,

named after a man of God who compiled the writings of prophets from long ago.

This record comes with a promise to those who are sincere in seeking for truth:

read, ponder and ask God with real intent and you will feel the spirit witness to you.

(Moroni 10: 3-5)

D&C 88: 118 And as all have not faith, seek ye diligently and teach one another words of wisdom; yea, seek ye out of the best books words of wisdom; seek learning, even by study and also by faith.

Ulisses Soares, “The Coming Forth of the Book of Mormon”, April 2020

“To all who hear my voice today, I invite you to be part of the marvelous coming forth of the Book of Mormon in your own life. I promise you that as you prayerfully and consistently study its words, you can partake of its promises and rich blessings in your life. I reaffirm once more the promise that echoes through its pages: that if you “ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ,” He mercifully “will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.” I can assure you that He will give you the answer in a very personal way, as He has done for me and many others around the world.”

Ezra Taft Benson, “The Book of Mormon – Keystone of Our Religion”, October 1986

“It is not just that the Book of Mormon teaches us truth, though it indeed does that. It is not just that the Book of Mormon bears testimony of Christ, though it indeed does that, too. But there is something more. There is a power in the book which will begin to flow into your lives the moment you begin a serious study of the book.”

Gerald Causse, “A Living Witness of the Living Christ”, April 2020

“The central message of the Book of Mormon is to restore the true knowledge of the essential role of Jesus Christ in the salvation and exaltation of mankind. This theme reverberates from the introductory page through the very last words of the last chapter … Another comforting truth contained in the Book of Mormon is that, although infinite and universal in its reach, the Lord’s Atonement is a remarkably personal and intimate gift,

suited to each of us individually”

Russell M. Nelson, “Restoration Proclamation”, April 2020

“We further witness that Joseph Smith was given the gift and power of God to translate an ancient record: the Book of Mormon—Another Testament of Jesus Christ. Pages of this sacred text include an account of the personal ministry of Jesus Christ among people in the Western Hemisphere soon after His Resurrection. It teaches of life’s purpose and explains the doctrine of Christ, which is central to that purpose. As a companion

scripture to the Bible, the Book of Mormon testifies that all human beings are sons and daughters of a loving Father in Heaven, that He has a divine plan for our lives, and that His Son, Jesus Christ, speaks today as well as in days of old.”

Russell M. Nelson, “Combatting Spiritual Drift”, October 1993

“We have observed that sincere study of the Book of Mormon transforms the spirit and engenders a testimony of Jesus Christ that heals the spiritual hearts of men and women throughout the world. The more widely it is read and understood, the greater is its influence for good. We find that as the Book of Mormon spreads to the four corners of the globe, men and women exhibit greater devotion and become promulgators of peace within their own families and society.”

Dieter F. Uchtdorf, “Come and Belong”, April 2020

“We invite you to read the Book of Mormon. If you don’t have a copy, you can read it on

ChurchofJesusChrist.org or download the Book of Mormon app. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ and a companion to the Old and New Testaments. We love all of these holy scriptures and learn from them.”
