The man was on a mission, his schedule was full –
could he upend his agenda and not lose his cool?
He had things to do, places to be.
So, he thought: “why is God bothering me”?
The timing was not convenient, he would have to go out of his way.
It was not in his plan, at least not for today.
He could not ignore this constant message in his brain:
“Never stifle a generous thought” - sometimes a really annoying refrain.
“Isn’t there someone else who could accomplish this task”?
“Can’t I find another time to do as You ask”?
He was out of excuses and soon the fight was over.
He gave-in to his “good side” and decided to put a new plan together.
God was directing him to do what was most important
and push aside other things, at least for a few moments.
He now had a more open mind and heart.
He sought for further inspiration to help him get a fresh start.
“If God is going to prompt me to help someone in need,
surely he will tell me how I should proceed”.
I have no doubt that God speaks to men and women.
I have heard His voice enough to know Him.
It’s difficult for God to use someone who refuses to listen,
when they have closed their minds to follow His invitation.
When you are a disciple of Christ, you are always on duty.
Taking too many breaks makes you spiritually weak and unruly.
There is rest for the weary, on the other side of the task.
There is peace, rest and tranquility after we do what He asks.
So, go on and do that good act, it won’t ruin your day.
You’ll find that everything else will fall into place and be more than just ok.
Never stifle a generous thought or good deed.
The service you give will bless you as well as those who receive.
