Have Faith, Not Fear

Be not afraid, only believe - (Mark 5:36)

faith in Christ allows us to elevate our confidence and what we can achieve.

Faith and fear cannot co-exist, much like darkness and light -

each flees in the presence of the other as adversaries taking flight.

What occupies the mind at a given moment in every sister or brother,

can be either faith or fear - one always gives way to the other.

Fear, doubt, lack of confidence and unbelief are very much alike,

they diminish our capacity and potential to become more like Christ.

Being apprehensive and indecisive can also lead to spiritual apathy -

discouragement, distraction, and disobedience likewise perform a destructive symphony.

Faith precedes the miracle and makes possible all essential things,

it removes the mountains of obstacles in our path and makes us better human beings.

“Only your unbelief will keep God from blessing you with miracles to move the mountains in your life”

Mountains of personal challenges of loneliness, doubt, illness and strife.

Mountains of obstacles will not overpower us or consume us if we apply faith in great abundance,

nothing is above the power of God to overwhelming bless us.

The same power that cleansed the leper, that raised the dead and brought sight to the blind,

can bring relief to our injured body, soul and anguished mind.

If we just exercise a particle of faith, even as big as a mustard seed,

we can see miracles develop in our lives if we will just give the proper heed.

“It is our faith that unlocks the power of God in our lives” -

God works by this power, according to the faith of those who truly strive.

Learn of Christ, choose to believe, act and do, partake of sacred ordinances and then pray,

these are the steps we can take to increase our faith each and every day and keep Satan at bay.

“Desire, hope, and belief are forms of faith, but faith as a principle of power comes from a consistent pattern of obedient behavior and attitudes” (Kevin W. Pearson)

Moroni 7:33 If ye will have faith in me ye shall have power to do whatsoever thing is expedient in me.

Mark 5: 36 Be not afraid, only believe.

2 Timothy 1: 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Isaiah 12: 2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.

D&C 6: 36 Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not.

Kevin W. Pearson, “Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ” April 2009

“Faith and fear cannot coexist. One gives way to the other. The simple fact is we all need to constantly build faith and overcome sources of destructive disbelief” These Six Destructive Ds—doubt, discouragement, distraction, lack of diligence, disobedience, and disbelief—all erode and destroy our faith. We can choose to avoid and overcome them.

Desire is a particle of faith that develops within us as we experience divine truth. It is like spiritual photosynthesis. The influence of the Holy Ghost, acting on the Light of Christ within every human being, produces the spiritual equivalent of a chemical reaction—a stirring, a change of heart, or a desire to know. Hope develops as particles of faith become molecules and as simple efforts to live true principles occur. As patterns of obedience develop, the specific blessings associated with obedience are realized and belief emerges. Desire, hope, and belief are forms of faith, but faith as a principle of power comes from a consistent pattern of obedient behavior and attitudes. Personal righteousness is a choice. Faith is a gift from God, and one possessed of it can receive enormous spiritual power.

Russell M. Nelson, “Drawing the Power of Jesus Christ into Our Lives” April 2017

“God so loved the world that He sent His Only Begotten Son to help us. And His Son, Jesus Christ, gave His life for us. All so that we could have access to godly power—power sufficient to deal with the burdens, obstacles, and temptations of our day.

Faith in Jesus Christ propels us to do things we otherwise would not do. Faith that motivates us to action gives us more access to His power.
