God So Loved The World

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

In the video series “The Chosen”, there are several scenes depicting the apostle John as a witness to the teachings and actions of the Savior and the process he may have taken in recording the earthly ministry of the Christ. This poem is inspired by the gospel of John and also the song by the musical group, the City of Enoch.

The apostle John wanted us to understand,

the role of Jesus in the heavens as well as His life in the Holy Land.

The gospel of John describes in plainness in almost every chapter,

the mission of the Savior from the preexistence to His life thereafter.

Jesus is the Word and was with God in the beginning,

He came forth from the Father, to do His will and save us from our sinning.

The Word was made flesh and He dwelt on earth as a mortal - sent from above.

He was the only begotten of the Father - full of grace, truth and love.

He is the Bread of Life offering his loving care so we may never hunger,

the Great Jehovah is our manna in the wilderness who sustains us forever.

He is the Living Water who nourishes the soul and quenches all spiritual thirst,

a well of water springing up into everlasting life – He is the last and the first.

He is the Resurrection and the Life – our Redeemer and guiding light;

through Him we receive the blessing of immortality and the potential for eternal life.

The Lamb of God gave himself as a sacrifice to restore us both body and soul,

He can lift us, cleanse us - make us complete and whole.

The Prince of Peace is the true light who lightest every person in the world -

He is the light that shineth in the darkness and illuminates all truth we can behold.

Christ is the way, the truth and the life by whom we can know the Father,

He taught us how to live and how we should continually treat each other.

The Son of God had power to lay down his life and take it again, (John 10)

no man comes unto the Father, except by Him.

Search the scriptures for they testify of Christ,

through them we can learn of His momentous teachings and the real purpose of life.

God loves the world and gave us the heavenly gift of his Son,

through his grace we can survive, even thrive and become more like Him.

This is life eternal, to know God and His Son Jesus Christ whom he sent.

We can return home to God if we believe in Him, seek His will and continually repent.
