Come See

“Go see” and find the babe, Christ the Lord, who lies in a manger,

said the angel to the shepherds who were keeping their flock from danger. (Luke 2: 1-20)

“Come and find” was the message the wise men discerned from the new star,

Come worship the long-awaited Christ child, the King of Jews, the Savior. (Matthew 2: 1-2)

“Come see” said Andrew to Simon Peter his brother,

“We have found the Christ”, come, we will take you there”. (John 1: 40-42)

“Come see” said Phillip to Nathanael, who thought a Nazarene could not be upright,

“we have found Him of whom Moses and the prophets did write” (John 1: 45-46)

“Come and see” said Christ to the disciples of John the Baptist, near the Dead Sea,

“Come see where and how I live. Come abide with me”. (John 1: 39)

“Come see” said the Samaritan woman to her kin - she who spoke with Jesus at the well,

“He told me things that I ever did”. “Surely He is the Messiah”, I can clearly tell. (John 4: 29, 39-42)

“Come see” said the angel to the women at the sepulchre on resurrection day,

“He is not here, He is risen. Come see the place where the Lord lay” (Matthew 28: 6)

“Come see” said Mary to the apostles after coming from the tomb,

“we found not the body of Jesus”. Peter ran and saw the same empty room. (Luke 24: 1-12)

“Come see” said the Nephites who spent the day with Jesus and then noised abroad his coming,

“He will show himself again on the morrow” unto the faithful and believing. (3 Nephi 19: 1-3)

“Come forth” and see and feel the prints of the nails in my feet and hands, (3 Nephi 11: 13-15)

said Jesus to the Nephites when He appeared in their newly devastated land.

“Come and see” should be the invitation of all disciples of Christ to their friends,

to everyone who wants to learn more of the teachings of Jesus and desire their ways to mend.

“Come with me” and see how we worship and what we believe,

let me show you how you can be a better human and the truth perceive.

David A. Bednar, “Come and See”, October 2014 General Conference

“Sharing with other people things that are most meaningful to us or have helped us is not unusual at all. This same pattern is especially evident in matters of great spiritual importance and consequence…. Much like Lehi, Enos, and our little boy in the story I recounted, we as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have felt the anguish associated with spiritual uncertainty and sin. We also have experienced the cleansing, the peace of conscience, the spiritual healing and renewal, and the guidance that are obtained only by learning and living the principles of the Savior’s gospel.

“And as I partook of the fruit thereof it filled my soul with exceedingly great joy; wherefore, I began to be desirous that my family should partake of it also” (1 Nephi 8:11–12)

“Now, it came to pass that when I had heard these words I began to feel a desire for the welfare of my brethren, the Nephites; wherefore, I did pour out my whole soul unto God for them” (Enos 1:4–9)
