Believe in Things You Cannot See

Not all things that exist can be seen with natural vision.

Many wonders unite to make possible our human condition.

The fundamental forces of nature are invisible to the naked eye,

but are essential to our existence on this planet nestled in the galactic sky.

The wind can be felt and its effects can be noticed,

but the movement of air is visually transparent.

The transfer of water from the ground to create a billowing cloud

Is a process of evaporation that is not perceptible or loud.

When an apple falls from a tree,

it drops to the ground because of the unseen force called gravity.

Radio waves are not readily apparent,

but try using your smart phone without them being present.

The human senses are so amazing and such a blessing -

to be able to see, to hear, to smell, touch and taste are marvelous sensations.

When you move your arms, legs or a knee -

your body responds immediately to commands from your brain that you cannot see.

Likewise a person can have faith in things that are not easily seen -

things of a spiritual nature that sustain all human beings.

We can have faith in God who created all things that are

as we see the evidence of His creations everywhere.

There is another sense that is spiritual in nature.

It is the ability to receive inspiration from Our Maker.

Divine sources of revelation inspire us and enlighten our minds.

The Holy Ghost and the Light of Christ are examples of this kind.

Our souls can be touched by an unseen heavenly patron

and leave a feeling of immense spiritual elation.

When you believe in things that you cannot see,

your life can be enriched immensely.

Hebrews 11: 1,3,6 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Alma 32: 21 And now as I said concerning faith—faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true.

Enos 1: 5-8 And there came a voice unto me, saying: Enos, thy sins are forgiven thee, and thou shalt be blessed. And I, Enos, knew that God could not lie; wherefore, my guilt was swept away. And I said: Lord, how is it done? And he said unto me: Because of thy faith in Christ, whom thou hast never before heard nor seen. And many years pass away before he shall manifest himself in the flesh; wherefore, go to, thy faith hath made thee whole.

Romans 10: 17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

D&C 88: 15 And the spirit and the body are the soul of man.

Alma 11: 45 Now, behold, I have spoken unto you concerning the death of the mortal body, and also concerning the resurrection of the mortal body. I say unto you that this mortal body is raised to an immortal body, that is from death, even from the first death unto life, that they can die no more; their spirits uniting with their bodies, never to be divided; thus the whole becoming spiritual and immortal, that they can no more see

corruption.

Moroni 7: 16 For behold, the Spirit of Christ is given to every man, that he may know good from evil; wherefore, I show unto you the way to judge; for every thing which inviteth to do good, and to persuade to believe in Christ, is sent forth by the power and gift of Christ; wherefore ye may know with a perfect knowledge it is of God.

John 14: 26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

D&C 11: 13 Verily, verily, I say unto you, I will impart unto you of my Spirit, which shall enlighten your mind, which shall fill your soul with joy;

Russell M. Nelson, Combatting Spiritual Drift”, October 1993

“My expressions represent more than mere belief. I know from personal experience that God can and does communicate with individuals. Through that personal revelation, one may surely know that God lives, that His Beloved Son, Jesus, is the Christ, and that the doctrines I have discussed which are pertinent to man’s salvation and eternal progress are true.”

Russell M. Nelson, “Hear Him”, April 2020

“We also hear Him more clearly as we refine our ability to recognize the whisperings of the Holy Ghost. It has never been more imperative to know how the Spirit speaks to you than right now. In the Godhead, the Holy Ghost is the messenger. He will bring thoughts to your mind which the Father and Son want you to receive. He is the Comforter. He will bring a feeling of peace to your heart. He testifies of truth and will confirm what is true

as you hear and read the word of the Lord.”

Light of Christ, Bible Dictionary

The light of Christ is just what the words imply: enlightenment, knowledge, and an uplifting, ennobling, persevering influence that comes upon mankind because of Jesus Christ. For instance, Christ is “the true light that lighteth every man that cometh into the world” (D&C 93:2; see John 1:9).

The light of Christ fills the “immensity of space” and is the means by which Christ is able to be “in all things, and is through all things, and is round about all things.” It “giveth life to all things” and is “the law by which all things are governed.” It is also “the light that quickeneth” man’s understanding (see D&C 88:6–13, 41). In this manner, the light of Christ is related to man’s conscience and tells him right from wrong (Moro. 7:12–19).
